Find Dunn County Arrest Records

Police, jail staff, courts, and the state repository each hold a different piece of Dunn County arrest history. To look up Dunn County arrest records, begin with the jail's current custody list, then contact the arresting agency for its incident report. Filed charges and outcomes appear through the court system, while the state repository links qualifying fingerprint-supported events to an identity. No single source tells the whole story. The booking charge can change, a person can be released without a filed case, and an arrest alone never proves guilt.

Dunn County Arrest History

Dunn County arrest records begin with the agency that made the arrest. The Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Menomonie Police, UW-Stout Police, Colfax Police, Boyceville Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Wisconsin DNR wardens can each create an incident or arrest report. If a person enters the Dunn County Jail, jail staff create a separate booking and custody record. Qualifying arrest fingerprints then go to the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau.

If the Dunn County District Attorney files charges, the Clerk of Circuit Court opens a CF, CM, or CT case. These records can diverge. Jail staff may enter the legal basis supplied at intake, while the prosecutor later amends, replaces, or declines the charge. A filed count can then end in dismissal, acquittal, or conviction. Dunn County arrest history must therefore be checked through the right custodian and read beside the later court result.

The official Dunn County jail page identifies the custody office and current roster channel.

The sheriff and jail share the justice campus, but the incident report and booking record still answer different questions.

Dunn County Daily Booking Snapshot

The Dunn County Current Inmate List is a linked PDF, not a live search database. It updates once each morning between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m. The report is best for asking who was in Dunn County Jail at the report time. It is not a historical booking log, and it cannot show a release or new booking that occurred after the daily run.

The roster may show the report date, sheriff identification, resident and custody information, charges or holding reason, and bond or status fields used on that day's report. It does not promise a booking photo, court date, housing pod, physical description, or medical and security data. Those fields should never be inferred. A missing name proves only that the person was not shown on that morning's public snapshot.

The official jail page links the current Dunn County inmate snapshot.

The posted update window explains why time-sensitive Dunn County custody checks also need a phone call.

Note: Call the Dunn County Jail at 715-232-2220 when a booking or release may have occurred after the morning report.

Looking Up Dunn County Arrests

A complete Dunn County arrest lookup moves from present custody to the source report, court file, and state history as needed. Keep the event date, arresting agency, incident number, and correct name at hand. Each official channel has a narrow job, so an empty result in one source should lead to the next relevant custodian rather than a conclusion that no arrest occurred.

  1. Check the Dunn County current-inmate PDF for the morning custody snapshot. Call the jail for a booking or release after the cutoff.
  2. Identify the arresting agency and request its incident or arrest report. Ask the jail separately for historical booking data.
  3. Search WCCA for a filed Dunn County CF, CM, or CT case, then read each charge through its disposition.
  4. Use WORCS for a name-based Wisconsin CIB history. Treat a possible match as an identity issue, not as final proof.
  5. Use DOC Locator for state prison or community supervision and VINELink as a custody-notification supplement.
  6. When online sources are silent, send a focused public-record request to the office that created the record.

Menomonie Police accepts requests by phone, email, mail, fax, or at its counter. Sheriff incident records route to the sheriff's business office. Emergency Communications controls dispatch audio and CAD records. UW-Stout, Colfax, Boyceville, State Patrol, and DNR records remain with their own custodians. Dunn County does not have one records desk that can release every agency's file.

After the Dunn Booking Cutoff

A booking after 7:00 a.m. may wait until the next Dunn County PDF. Call 715-232-2220 for time-sensitive custody status. Jail staff may limit what they can disclose, and a phone answer is not a court disposition. If a filed prosecution is the real question, search WCCA and contact the Dunn County clerk. If the incident narrative is needed, contact the arresting agency instead.

For an old Dunn County booking that has rolled off the list, ask the jail or sheriff for releasable historical booking fields. Give the approximate date, correct identity, and arresting agency. Then request the incident report from the police custodian. The two files are not interchangeable. One documents jail intake and custody; the other can include the officer narrative, witness statements, CAD references, property, and evidence details.

Inside a Dunn County Arrest Record

A Dunn County arrest record can span the agency report and the jail booking sheet. The incident side may identify the alleged basis for arrest and the officer's narrative. The booking side records intake, current holding charges, and release or bond data. Public copies can omit juvenile information, victim details, health facts, protected identifiers, and material withheld after a lawful records review.

Incident numberThe arresting agency's identifier for the event and report
Arrest detailsDate, time, location, agency, officer, and asserted legal basis
Alleged offensesInitial offenses or statutes, which may differ from filed charges
Booking detailsBooking date and time, identity checks, fingerprints, and intake data
Bond or releaseCash, signature, no-bond, release, or custody status where public
Photo policyA photo may be taken at intake, but Dunn County does not promise routine public release in its current PDF
DA referralReferral for a separate prosecutorial charging decision

“Released” means the person is no longer held on that booking. It does not mean the Dunn County charge was dismissed. “In custody” does not prove guilt because the jail houses both sentenced and non-sentenced people. Check the court result count by count. No arrestee name or booking photo is reproduced here, and the official roster should not be treated as a gallery.

Three Dunn County Arrest Records

One event can create at least three distinct Dunn County records. The police report is organized around an incident number and officer narrative. The jail record is organized around a booking episode. The CIB history is organized around identity and fingerprint-supported arrest cycles. If charges are filed, WCCA adds a fourth view organized by court case number. These sources may update at different times.

Wisconsin law requires qualifying fingerprint and related data to reach DOJ/CIB. An arrest without supporting fingerprints can appear in a Dunn County court case yet be absent from the CIB history. A CIB arrest cycle can also need a later court disposition before it tells the final result. WORCS is a name-based public request and can return a possible match that must be compared carefully. It is not the same product as WCCA.

DOC Locator answers another question. It covers Wisconsin state custody or community supervision, not the Dunn County pretrial jail population. The Wisconsin DOC Person in Our Care or Client Search is useful after a sentence reaches state custody or supervision.

The state locator complements the Dunn County jail list but cannot replace its current local custody check.

Booking Logs and Recent Arrests

The Dunn County current-inmate PDF is deliberately temporary. A person disappears from the public snapshot after release, and later arrivals wait for the next run. The list should not be described as a complete recent-arrest blotter. Official sheriff, police, and county news may discuss selected incidents, but those posts are editorial selections. The lack of a press release says nothing about whether an arrest occurred.

For present custody, use the Dunn County roster and jail phone. For past booking data, submit a focused request to the jail or sheriff. For the facts asserted by an officer, request the arresting agency's report. For filed charges and outcomes, use the Dunn County criminal court cases record. This chain avoids treating any one brief public display as a full arrest history.

The jail page remains the primary official source for the Dunn County morning custody list and time-sensitive phone fallback.

Dunn Dispatch and Arrest Reports

Dunn County Emergency Communications separately holds dispatch audio and CAD material. A dispatch record is not the same as the arrest report. It can document call routing, time markers, and radio or call activity, while the arresting agency's report can hold the officer narrative and evidence detail. Request the specific record from the custodian that maintains it.

The county's dispatch request asks for requester contact details, the incident date and time, location, call or incident number when known, a clear description, and delivery information. Wisconsin Public Records Law does not generally require magic words or a stated purpose. A narrow request can speed review and reduce location work. Fees may cover actual reproduction costs and location expense when locating costs reach the statutory threshold of $50.

The Dunn County Emergency Communications page identifies dispatch contacts and its record channel.

Dunn County arrest lookup emergency dispatch records page

That channel is useful for 911 and CAD material, while the Sheriff or other arresting agency remains the report custodian.

A Dunn County request can be redacted for juvenile confidentiality, victim or witness safety, protected health and identity data, or an open-investigation balancing analysis. A denial should state the reason and review rights. No current sheriff report-copy fee schedule, certified charge, local clearance product, or fixed turnaround was found. Ask for an estimate before approving costly work.

Dunn County Arrest Agency Channels

The Dunn County Sheriff's business office is the practical contact for sheriff incident reports. Menomonie Police has a separate records custodian at Suite G200, 615 Stokke Parkway, with phone 715-232-2198 and email mpdrecords@menomonie-wi.gov. Menomonie accepts oral or written requests by phone, email, mail, fax, or counter and advises that processing may take up to ten business days. That is a local notice, not a statewide deadline.

Colfax Police requests can start with Chief William Anderson at 715-962-3136 or policechief@vi.colfax.wi.gov. UW-Stout Police keeps its own campus records. Boyceville requests should route through the official village contact after confirming the current officer. State Patrol and DNR records likewise remain with their state custodians. Sending a single request to “Dunn County” will not make one office the custodian for all those agencies.

VINELink can supplement a custody search where the agency participates. The VINELink service supports custody-status notifications.

Notifications are useful for status changes, but the Dunn County jail and court remain the source offices for custody and case facts.

Arrests Are Not Convictions

An arrest means an agency took a person into custody or asserted arrest authority. A conviction requires a guilty or no-contest plea accepted by the court, or a guilty verdict followed by judgment. The Dunn County arrest report and booking sheet are created before that final court decision. Initial allegations can change or never become filed charges.

Arrest RecordConviction Record
Created by police and jail staffEntered by Wisconsin Circuit Court
Shows an arrest or booking eventShows a judgment of guilt on a charge
Held by the agency and Dunn County JailHeld in the official clerk file and reported through justice systems
Can be followed by release, no charge, or dismissalCan lead to sentence, appeal, or lawful expungement when eligible

A dismissal does not automatically erase the Dunn County arrest. Wisconsin adult expungement under Wis. Stat. § 973.015 is narrow, generally must be ordered at sentencing for an eligible offense committed before age 25, and follows successful sentence completion. A person correcting inaccurate CIB data should use the Wisconsin DOJ challenge process and may also need the source agency or court to correct its contribution.

An arrest is not proof of guilt. Verify the filed disposition with the Dunn County Clerk of Circuit Court before drawing conclusions.

Note: Read each Dunn County court count through its final disposition because booking charges and filed charges may not match.
